Abstract
The present paper reports on the development of multifunctional cotton fabric, using pomegranate peel extract. Cotton knit fabric was mordanted using zinc sulphate and dyed using pomegranate peel extract. Dye and mordant concentrations were optimized in order to get higher colour values. The dyed fabrics were evaluated for colour values, fastness properties and functional properties. Cotton fabric was imparted with antibacterial, UV protective and antioxidant properties, along with enhanced thermal stability. Such multifunctional fabric can be an excellent candidate for sewing sports textiles and summer wear.
